Une Expérience Qui Réussit Trop Bien (A Somewhat Too Successful Experiment)

Lithograph, 1853, from La Fluidomanie (an invented word meaning A Mania for Occult Games), 1853, 205 x 270 mm., Delteil 2399 ii/ii, Daumier Register 2399 ii/ii. A fine impression on white wove paper with good margins ; pinholes along the bottom edge of the sheet. The image is that of a séance gone wrong. The French text may be translated as “Hold it, hold it…blast, doesn’t anybody know how to stop this table? It’s possessed by the devil!”
