Pomponne Zelinska Debout dans un Jardin (1er planche)

Color lithograph, 1895, 225 x 167 mm., B. N. Inventaire 6. Fine impression on wove paper with small but full margins, as published in Le Centaure in 1895. Blanche was primarily a highly esteemed portrait painter, whose subjects included Marcel Proust, Aubrey Beardsley and Yvette Guilbert. He himself was portrayed by John Singer Sargent. Although he made comparatively few prints (five of them of Pomponne), he was an important figure in the rise of color lithography, his works in that medium being contemporaneous with those of Vuillard, Bonnard and Denis.
