MacLaughlan: Leaves of Asolo

Leaves of Asolo

Etching, 1912, 248 x 325 mm., Bruette 183 i/ii. By 1912, MacLaughlan had adopted both a larger format for his etchings and a somewhat more open style of drawing. He obviously loved the Italian countryside, and the bursting forth of greenery on this plate is as much a depiction of personal elation as it is of the land. A fine impression in green-black on laid paper with narrow margins, signed in pencil.
