Bahnkurve im Taunus (Railway Curve in Taunus)

Lithograph, 1916, 282 x 197 mm., Dube 315c. A good impression on wove paper with full margins, as published in Der Bildermann, with another lithograph (by Max Slevogt) verso. The Taunus is a range of low mountains in Germany near Frankfurt-am-Main and in the journal publication the print is called simply Landschaft (landscape) in Taunus. There were a few proofs and then a pencil-signed edition of twelve before the Bildermann publication, whose purpose, specifically stated, was to make such images available to the “people.” For people today, who admire the image apart from the signature, the print is available at less than one-tenth the cost of a signed impression.
