Mon Bon Dodo

Etching, 1915, 95 x 117 mm., Bromberg 166 only state. Fine impression, rather unusually printed with an even, grey plate tone (most were clean wiped), on laid paper with full margins, signed in pencil. This is one of the plates published by the Carfax Gallery in 1915 and bears their address. The image is of a woman (unidentified) in bed and covered with blankets, only her face visible. Edition sizes of Sickert plates seem to be unkown, but the Carfax prints did not sell well and the number of impressions printed was probably small. Although this is a small plate, Sickert considered it one of his most successful etchings.
