Kerrera, No. 1
Drypoint, 1912-13, 226 x 174 mm., Rinder 438 II trial proof B. Provenance: E. M Henn (Lugt 872b).
The impression is before the plate was reduced, taking away the lower blank (except for plate tone) half. Somehow, the plate is more interesting with it. A fine impression on old laid paper with full margins, signed in pencil. Kerrara is an island in the Firth of Lorne, just off the coast of Oban in western Scotland. In the distant background of the print is the ruin of Gylen Castle, burned in 1647.
