Paysage avec Maison

Lithograph in colors, 1897, 292 x 416 mm., Salomon 13, Johnson 133 from L'Album d'Estampes Originales de la Galerie Vollard, edition 100. A fine impression with fresh colors on thin wove paper with full margins, signed in pencil from the edition of one hundred published by Vollard. The work is a single image, not part of any related set, and strikingly original in conception, in that it frames its main subject with grey trees on either side and then presents no subject. The maison is a blank, white space defined only by a brown roof line. The real subject is a play of light and color in landscape and sky.
