Color etching with soft ground and aquatint, 1894, as published by L’Estampe-Originale, Lotz-Brissonneau 91 iii/iii. Stein & Karshan 41, 394 x 228 mm. Fine, fresh impression of one of Lepere's major color etchings, printed in tones of red, brown and blue on thick, cream wove paper with small but full margins, signed and numbered in blue crayon from the edition of 100 published by L'Estampe Originale and with their blind stamp at the lower left. The image shows two laundresses, one old and worn, one young and attractive, standing near the top of the stairs from the Seine embankment in Paris. At the top of the image is inscribed "Jeunesse passe vite. Vertu!..." (Youth passes quickly. Virtue!)
