Woodcut, 1895, 178 x 222 mm., Vallotton & Goerg 164 a (of d). A fine impression on cream wove paper with full margins, signed in blue pencil and numbered from the first edition of about one hundred impressions. There were, in addition, about twenty unsigned lifetime impressions (b) and a total posthumous edition of thirty-five (c & d). In Vallotton's Night , objects emerge from a uniform blackness, but teh stars in the sky are visible only as reflection in the pool in the foreground.
