Abstract Cityscape, New York
Original drawing in black ink on wove paper, 1908, signed and dated in ink, 315 x 204 mm. Although the dates Walkowitz put on his drawings can sometimes be questioned, there is no argument about the quality and interest of the group of drawings of abstract cityscapes he made. This is one of the most complex of that group and one of the best, superimposing bridge and building forms to create abstract patterns that, nevertheless, clearly define their subject.
