Blampied: Deux Précieux

Deux Précieux

Ink, and brown wash, 256 x 358 mm., signed and titled in ink. The pithiness of this drawing is matched by its clever contours. Swelling chests, inflated heads, and haughty expressions of the starched twosome makes this profile of affectation priceless in itself. The generous space on the left only intensifies their lofty dispositions. It is admirable that Blampied's skill as draughtsman does not conceal a certain affection for the targets of his good-natured fun.
