La Vallée des Dunes
Etching, and drypoint, 103 x 227 mm., Bliss 594 only state, edition 74. Provenance: KG (not in Lugt).
Superb impression with touches of burr on laid paper with good margins, signed and titled in pencil. The image shows two wood gatherers with their loads climbing the hill in the foreground. Behind them is a vast river valley landscape with farm buildings and a series of low rolling hills to an almost flat horizon. The panoramic quality is emphasized by the open line work receding into the distance.
