Le Mousse à la Pêche (La Pêche à la Ligne) (The Cabin Boy Fishing or The Fish on the Line)

Etching, 1861, 137 x 187 mm., Delteil 110 iii/iii from Voyage en Bateau. Fine impression on laid paper with large, full margins. The image shows the Botin (Daubigny's little houseboat) moored by the shore of the river. The cabin boy sits on the edge of the boat fishing, and the fish flock to his line. The width of the river is seen and, in the distance, a hunter fires at a running stag. Voyage en Bateau is a thoroughly delightful etched record of Daubigny's painting and fishing expedition along the Seine and Oise rivers. We have other images from the set; please inquire.
